Health Benefits of Therapeutic Massage
More than just
Relaxation
When most people think of massage, they imagine a serene environment with soft music playing in the background, a chance to escape from the daily grind. While relaxation is undoubtedly one of the benefits, the advantages of massage therapy extend far beyond just relaxation. Here's a deeper dive into the myriad benefits of massage:

Relieves Stress and Anxiety:
Mental Well-being: Regular massages can significantly reduce stress levels, promoting a sense of well-being and relaxation. The release of endorphins during a massage acts as a natural painkiller for the brain, helping to alleviate feelings of anxiety and depression.
Physical Response: The body's response to prolonged stress is reduced, including lower cortisol levels, which is the body's primary stress hormone treatment. When you remove pain, you regain your life!

Manages Chronic Pain Due to Injury or Illness:
Natural Pain Relief: Massage therapy can act as a natural painkiller by stimulating the release of endorphins.
Targeted Treatment: Therapists can focus on specific pain points, providing relief from chronic pain conditions like arthritis or fibromyalgia.

Relieves Stress and Anxiety:
Tension Release: Many headaches stem from tension in the neck and upper back. Massage can help to release this tension, reducing the frequency and severity of headaches.
Migraine Relief: Some migraine sufferers find relief through massage, especially when combined with other treatments and lifestyle changes.

Accelerates Healing After an Injury:
Increased Blood Flow: Massage promotes better blood circulation, which can speed up the healing process by delivering essential nutrients to injured tissues.
Reduces Scar Tissue: Regular massage can help break down scar tissue, improving flexibility and reducing pain in the affected area.

Improves Circulation
Allowing More Oxygen and Nutrients to Reach Tissues and Organs:
Detoxification: Improved circulation helps in the removal of waste products from the body, aiding in detoxification.
Enhanced Cellular Function: With better blood flow, cells receive more oxygen and nutrients, promoting healthier skin and organ function.

Increases Flexibility and Range of Motion in Joints:
Muscle Relaxation: Massage helps to relax tight muscles, allowing for better joint movement.
Lubrication: By stimulating the production of natural lubricants in connective tissue, massage can improve overall joint health.

Improves Posture:
Alignment Correction: By relaxing and lengthening muscles, massage can help correct imbalances in the body that contribute to poor posture.
Awareness: Regular massage can increase one's awareness of their body, making it easier to recognize and correct poor postural habits.
Incorporating regular massage sessions into your wellness routine can offer both immediate and long-term benefits. Whether you're seeking relief from chronic pain, looking to manage stress, or simply wanting to maintain good health, massage therapy can be a pivotalv tool in your wellness arsenal.

Therapeutic Specialties
Swedish
This is the basis for all massage; it can be both relaxing and energizing. Emphasizes kneading, friction and long strokes flowing toward the heart.
Relaxation
Any massage designed to calm the nervous system and increase circulation using long flowing strokes.
Myofascial Release
Uses gentle sustained pressure, skin rolling and/or long, stretching strokes that influence the fascia system to release restricted muscles, restore movement and improve posture.
Deep Tissue
Muscle tissue is warmed using a variety of massage strokes; area-specific deep pressure techniques are then applied, to release constricted areas of soft tissue, realign deeper layers of connective tissue, and improve range of motion.
Trigger Point
A treatment incorporated into deep tissue massage focusing on the source of the pain through a technique of sustained pressure and release, allowing constricted muscles to relax.
Sports
Addressing the muscles specific to a particular sport helps prevent injury and facilitates recovery pre and post participation in a sporting event. It can feel rigorous and invigorating
Lymphatic Drainage
This technique stimulates the lymph system (which is very slow moving) with light circular movement – specifically useful to lower inflammation for post-surgery and immune system support.
CranioSacral Therapy
Frees the central nervous system to perform at its best, using delicate manual holds and techniques to release tension that allow the entire body to relax and self-correct. Helps strengthen resistance to disease.
Reiki
An energy-healing technique that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety through gentle touch and can ground the therapist and client during massage sessions.
Pre & Post Natal
Prenatal Massage is helpful for reducing the physical imbalances of pregnancy, reducing swelling and relieving pressure on joints and muscles. Post-natal massage helps rebalance structure and provides relaxation to new mother’s. Can be performed laying sideline or prone with supportive pillows.

Cupping
An ancient and still very effective treatment for chronic pain, muscle and joint stiffness, restricted range of motion and impaired circulation. Glass or plastic suction cups are placed or slid along areas of tension, trigger points, acupoints or scars, to release constricted fascia, stimulate blood flow, and accelerate tissue repair. We only practice dry cupping…
Shiatsu
Involves using area-specific pressure with thumbs, elbows, and knees along meridian lines throughout the body to stimulate and harmonize the flow of “Qi” (vital energy) throughout the body. It may be stimulating or calming depending on what is needed. Shiatsu therapy reduces stress and contributes to overall well-being. Clients wear comfortable clothing, like a t-shirt…
